Our programmes aim to improve women and youths’ capacities as driving force for social change through:
Types
Women Empowerment
We believe that all-inclusive participation is an essential part of the process of good local
governance and community development. Women in Ndokwa land are being empowered to
be financially independent through financial literacy and financial support to enable them
participate more actively in politics and public conversations.
Advocacy for Ukwuani women
Having identified the general lack of confidence and limited opportunities for Ndokwa women,
Ndokwa Ladies League has put in place strong advocacy team for defending Ndokwa women’s
rights including discouraging of negative social cultural practices, unfounded religious beliefs
and stigmatization that impede the growth and development of communities
Medical Assistance
Medical assistance is being offered to victims of sexual abuse, harassment and gender violence.
These are being extended to the elderly as well as providing care and enabling environment for
positive relationship, mutual respect and trust between these less privileged and our esteemed
League.
Girl Child Support
Meeting the needs of girl child by embarking on philanthropic projects not only for their
benefits but other communities within the vicinity of such project.
Preserving our cultural heritage and values.
Having observed increasing erosion of our cherished Ukwuani cultures and values, members
have put in place a number of activities for the promotion and sustenance of our cultural
heritage.
These we do through our mode of dressing, Ukwuani language lessons and folklore stories
during meetings etc. including online training sessions, competition in schools in Ukwuani
language. All in an effort to raise our consciousness of Ukwuani identity and preserve our
values
Mentoring and capacity building
Our efforts in this area is basically two fold, thus mentoring the girl child to grow up with the
right moral values for responsible motherhood. We also help women in various sectors of their
lives through enhancing their participation in leadership and political affairs in their
communities.
